01The research
What is Fahr Face?
Fahr Face is a face age test built on FAHR-Face, a face foundation model from researchers at Mass General Brigham and Harvard published in The Lancet Digital Health. The team pretrained it on more than 40 million unlabeled face photos covering ages 0 to 116, so the model learned how faces change across a lifetime.
From that base the researchers built two tools. FAHR-FaceAge estimates biological age, how old your body looks, rather than the age on your ID. FAHR-FaceSurvival was trained on photos of cancer patients to support doctors in clinical research. Fahr Face uses only the age model.
The study found that a face looking five or more years older than its real age was linked to worse health outcomes, and that makeup, lighting and most cosmetic surgery barely moved the estimate. Fahr Face brings that face age idea to everyone: no clinic, just a selfie.

04Age gap
Face age vs real age: why the gap matters
The researchers call the difference between face age and real age the face age deviation. In their patients, looking five or more years older was tied to a 21% higher risk, and looking five or more years younger to a 17% lower risk.
Smoking showed a clear dose effect: current smokers looked older than former smokers, who looked older than people who never smoked. Sleep, sun and stress leave marks too, so your result is a good nudge to look after those habits.
